Delia Noble Zhang, who also goes by the nickname Dee, is an aspiring author of speculative fiction stories that live rent free in her mind while she attempts to wrangle them into cohesive narratives.
Her early influences included the fantasy The Sword in the Stone (T. H. White); adult themes and historical fiction in The Bastard (John Jakes); realistic description in The Grapes of Wrath (John Steinbeck); and the romantic style of Westerns by Zane Grey and Louis L’Amour. Beyond romance novels and children’s fiction, she hadn’t resonated with a feminine narrative voice to guide her teenage ideas about writing in the ‘80s. As a reader and writer, she continues to explore the play between masculine and feminine literary themes.
Dee writes for young and new adult audiences and readers of adult romance. She examines themes of diversity inspired by her experience in a mixed-race Chinese American family. Current inspiration for her speculative fiction ideas include science fiction, artificial intelligence, mythology, religion, alchemy, and medieval history.
